Tree Planting and Harvest Party

Welcome to October! There are two exciting events taking place this month, and I'd love to see you at one or both of them.

On Saturday October 17, I'm assisting with a tree planting at the historic Lincoln Cemetery in Harrisburg and I'd love some help! I've started to get involved with SOAL (Save Our Ancestors Legacies), an descendent led volunteer group that is restoring the land at 201 S. 30th St Harrisburg where over 10,000 African Americans have been laid to rest since 1812. SOAL has been given more than 50 trees to plant as part of PA Interfaith Power and Light (PAIPL) Roots, Branches, & Hands initiative. The Facebook event can be found here. You can come for an hour or all day (11 am - 7 pm); bring a shovel and share the word with your networks! The other big event is our annual Bean Stomping Harvest Party on Sunday October 18 from 1-5 p.m. We had a great crop of kidney beans and black beans and we're going to need all hands on deck to process them! Of course, we'll have a big pot of vegan chili to share, a farm scavenger hunt, snuggle time with goats, fresh pressed cider, and more!
