Fall Harvest Boxes now available!

Folks, this is a little last minute, but I have a few openings available for our Fall Harvest Box subscription service (aka, CSA). The first box will be ready next week, September 25, so if you want to sign up, please register here ASAP. After much consideration*, I've decided to do a shorter CSA, so there will only be 7 boxes starting September 25 and going every other week until December 18. If semantics matter, you can call it "Fall Harvest Boxes" instead of a "Three Season Harvest Adventure." :) Keep reading for more information!

You can choose between our traditional produce box subscription (CSA) for $200 ($30 of produce/box) with the ability to customize and add to your order OR the a la carte option. The a la carte option is like a buyers club--you only get produce if you place an order, and you only have to order what you want (no minimum). Please be advised that if I’m running short on an item, the people who are traditional produce box subscribers will get first dibs, and I’ll fill a la carte orders after I’ve packed regular boxes.

Boxes will include staples such as onions, garlic, sweet potatoes, carrots, beets, and many varieties of winter squash. There will also be a regular assortment of greens (spinach, lettuce, kale, bok choy, herbs) as well as specialty items such as broccoli, fennel, baby ginger, and arugula. While most of the produce will come from Rising Sun Acres, I’ll also be partnering with other local farms to offer things such as mushrooms, apples, honey, and vegetables to fill in gaps in my production. You can also add a loaf (or more) of fresh baked bread from Hattie’s Bread Box to your box.

Pick up will be on Thursdays in the afternoon/evening at Rising Sun Acres, Camp Hill, Uptown (Harrisburg) or Allison Hill (Harrisburg). Home delivery is also an option for an additional fee of $35 (but check first to make sure you’re in the delivery range).

Checks can be made payable to Rising Sun Acres and sent to 1330 Williams Grove Rd. Mechanicsburg PA 17055. Venmo (@kirsten-reinford) and CashApp ($risingsunacres) are also accepted. I do not accept PayPal.

*To be honest, I've been on the fence about whether or not to offer a CSA at all this year. I scaled back my crop repertoire significantly, and I've been asking the big questions more intensely--Does farming bring me joy? Is it worth the work? Is there something else I want to do?--though answers have been elusive. I'm so grateful for your support all these years, and I don't want to lose the relationships that have been grown as we've shared the harvest. I also believe that fostering our connection with the earth and simplifying our food systems is beneficial on many levels. But I'm also finding that my interest in making farming a profitable venture for our family is waning, and while there are lots of contributing factors, it seems wise to give myself time to step back so that I can evaluate things from a place of passion instead of obligation. I am not planning to offer a CSA in 2026, but I'll continue to look for ways to build community in this space and I welcome your ideas and participation!
