Growing shade

The long term goal is to plant more trees around our house, so that we are sheltered from the intense summer sun. In the meantime, we have a trellis on the south side of our house, and each summer we plant some kind of climbing vine that gives us a little bit of shade, and a whole lot of beauty. Often I've planted hyacinth bean vine, but this year I decided to plant scarlet runner bean. The cheerful flowers are a buffet for pollinators, especially the big bumblebees (which I call bumblebutts) and hummingbirds (you'll have to trust me on that, since they're very elusive when I have my phone camera out!).
